The AMERICAN RECORDER DIB-101 Passive direct box (aka "DI" box) allows interfacing and connecting all types of unbalanced high-impedance signals to balanced low impedance signals. As an example, when connecting instruments such as guitars and keyboards directly to a mixing console. This will also allow for much longer cable runs, which is not desired with high-impedance signals.
And since the DIB-101 is totally passive, it does not require any electrical power to operate, simply plug in and your good to go!
